Look The Causse of "Le Massegros" mountain
is located in the south west end of the Causse of the Sauveterre, in
Lozère (48), and streches its dry and rocky "esplanade"
heading to the Rouergue region.
The diversity of this region makes its richness. It gathers the most
spectacular settings : the Gorges of the Tarn, the "détroits",
the narrowest part of the Gorges where the river runs between the high
cliffs of the Causses to end whirling on the chaos of "le
pas de Soucy". On the Causse, you have the most beautiful panoramic
viewpoint : "le point sublime"
with "le cirque des Baumes" underneath.
The Causse is a barren plateau, with fertile "dolines"
and "lavognes",(natural pools where sheep
drinks).
Many farms have kept the typical architecture ("Caussenard style")
and there is an underground world with many caves and swallow holes.
Vultures fly over these plateaux and natural archways that erosion has sculpted.
