from 2 hours to 2 days. Discover this wonderful landscape and
its environment (fauna and flora).

RENTING LIST:

SWIMMING
You will enjoy swimming in heavenly places,
in the Gorges of the Tarn with high quality water.

HIKING
You can choose to go alone with a precise
map (1/25000) or to follow the marked out paths. The easiest
ones are marked out in yellow and green,
(an average of 2 hour’s walk).
The "topo guide" is available at the Tourism Office
and presents 14 walks around Le Massegros.
GR (red and white) = long walks that you can do in
several days.
GRP (red and yellow) = not too long walks (an average
of 6 km)

MOUNTAIN BIKING

There are no proper paths
for mountain biking but most of the walks which are in the "topo
guide" book are opened to mountain bikes.

PLACES OF INTEREST
You will discover many secrets hidden in this
wonderful region. To go from the North to the South of "Lozère",
you will go through a granitic area to reach a schistose one ; all
that within 50 km.
A specific flora, fauna and architecture come from geology (cf. map).
The North of "Aubrac" strauped by transhumout herds is well
known for its typical meal : "Aligot" (mashed potatoes with
aligot cheese).
The famous Gevaudan wolf killed its first victims in "Margeride",
in the North East of Lozère.
The deep "Gorges of the Chassezac" is the limit with the
Ardèche country.
Further in the South, you will see the Cevennes National Park, the
country of the "Camisards" (resistance workers during the
second world war) and that is where chesnut is ground.
The most populated part of the region is the "Lot Valley"
which stretches across Lozère.
The "Gorges of the Tarn" and the "Causses" are
in the South West of Lozère and are the least populated areas
but the most impressive ones. The Grands Causses Regional Park is
protected.
You will have many things to visit in this region :
The Dargilan Caves called "the Pink cave" is a 1200 meters
walk in a wonderful underground world. No doubt, you will let your
imagination go when you see "rocky chaos of Nimes le Vieux"
on the Mejean Causse , as well as the "Chaos of Montpellier le
Vieux" on the "Causse Noir".
The old typical farm in "Hielzas" presents you the life
of causse’s farmers (architecture, way of life) in the 1950's.
You will have the opportunity to watch a video to help you to understand.
The best way to visit the Gorges of the Tarn is by doing a boat trip
with the boatman of la "Malène" or by renting a canoe
.
Not very far from the Gorges of the Tarn you can visit the Wolves
Gevaudan reserve in "Sainte Lucie" next to Marvejols . The
"European Bisons" in "St Alban sur Limagnole",
the "Vallon du Villaret" (discovery and play course at the
foot of Mont Lozère), the insect city "Micropolis"
in "Vezins du Lévézou" near "Sévérac-le-Château",
the "Roquefort caves" which are the mover of the local economy,
the weather forecast observatory of the "Mont Aigoual".
